Mental distress and suicide cases among the youth have risen: Rohit Choudhary
He feels all of these issues are interrelated, largely due to the high expectations today's youth place on themselves, and that is coupled with the minimal effort they put in.
Actor Rohit Choudhary who was last seen in Sunny Deol-starrer Gadar 2, feels that the youth have lost their lives to depression and suicide more than cardiac arrest.
Speaking on the demise of actor Vikas Sethi, who died due to a cardiac arrest on September 8, he said, “We have been seeing a lot of young deaths due to heart attacks these days. But if you research beyond the news on social media, you’ll find that mental distress (depression) and suicide cases among the youth have risen even more than cardiac arrests.”
He feels all of these issues are interrelated, largely due to the high expectations today's youth place on themselves, and that is coupled with the minimal effort they put in. He added, “That’s the bitter truth. Everyone wants quick fame, but the road to quick fame comes with a lot of stress.” Rohit, who is a fitness enthusiast himself, believes gymming has nothing to do with cardiac arrests or deaths. He said, “It’s what you do outside the gym that matters the most. Think about it.”
“Yes, I’m speechless because every life matters. We are here for a purpose. Youth have lost their lives fighting for the nation, and our soldiers die every day. I may sound harsh, but I want today’s youth to be responsible, thoughtful, and hardworking. It's truly sad to see them losing their lives like this,” he ended.
